We had to take advantage of the beautiful weather today and went on a loooong walk. I think my feet think it was too long because they hurt, but it was worth it. We walked from our apartment to the Charles River. Then we walked along the river to Harvard Sq in Cambridge.
As we approached the river, we saw a man looking at a small fish in the water:
But wait, let's take a closer look at the fish:

A Perfect Sunday
Well.. almost a perfect Sunday. Let's forget waking up and having to do taxes first thing on a Sunday morning because I procrastinated till (almost) the last minute. Anyway, we decided to pack a picnic and head out on a nice, long drive. We ended up driving through some beautiful little towns in MA. Along the way, we pulled over at a farm stand and picked up some fresh eggs.
We ended up driving all the way into NH so we couldn't resist pulling over and stopping at a flea market and Clam Haven (http://clamhaven.com/). Just one note on the Derry flea market: stay away! It's literally filled with vendors selling knockoff handbags etc. Totally a waste of time unless you are.. well.. into knockoffs.
Anyway, on the way back we decided to stop at the Methuen Animal Shelter which is the only animal shelter that I can leave without bawling because they treat their animals so well. Although I did get kind of bummed out at seeing two pigs there. I can't imagine someone giving up one of these pigs. I only snapped one photograph today and it happened to be of this guy at the shelter:

Chihuly: Through the Looking Glass
Nate and I have been putting our MFA membership to good use. Today, we went to see the new Chihuly exhibit at the MFA. I've always loved looking at blown glass pieces but this wasn't your typical blown glass. Truly magnificent. Individual icicles and other shapes pieced together to create even more interesting pieces. These photographs were taken with my iphone so the quality stinks, but it gives you an idea of just how neat this was.
You can see the size of this piece because I am in front of it:

Picnic Weather
The weather was perfect today so we decided to go to the Arboretum with some picnic foods (crackers, various cheeses, grapes etc). I wasn't expecting so many flowers. It always amazes me how different the Arboretum looks throughout the year with each month bringing its own individual visual pleasures to the landscape.

Sonia and Michael
My brother and his wife and baby recently came to Boston to visit us because it was my dad's 60th birthday. It was so great to see them. I was able to capture some photographs of my nephew (sister's baby) and niece (brother's baby) together. Anyway, the photos can speak for themselves but it was amazing to have the entire family together for a weekend. I can't tell you how much love I feel for these two little ones!
Cool note. The little girl is 2.5 months older than the boy. Pretty neat that both of my siblings have babies so close in age.
