It's our favorite time of year so Nate and I decided to dedicate a full day to leaf peeping, apple picking, hiking, and hot apple cider.
We started the morning at 6:30 AM (pretty ridiculous that we set the alarm for a Saturday). We showered and hopped in the car by 7:30 and headed to our favorite breakfast place in NH and beat the rush for once. Then we drove to Waterville Valley.
We went on the best hike that we have gone on in years a little ways away from Waterville Valley and saw waterfalls like this:
Tons of mushrooms:
And just beautiful scenery:
We then drove on Sandwich Notch Road and it was slightly perilous for our little car, but we had a blast. It reminded me of that time we off-roaded in Aruba but that's a story for a different day. The purpose of taking that road was to get to the Sandwich Fair but when we got there and saw that parking was $8 and no one was taking credit cards and we had no cash, we gave up and kept going.
We usually go to Mack's in NH for apple picking and that's where we were heading this year, but then we decided to stop here instead and I am so glad that we did:
We picked different varieties of apples like this:
What a shame that all these poor apples are on the ground:
But wait, I think they pick all those up too (see photos below) and they either make apple cider out of them or use them for other purposes.
On our way out we petted some goats that appropriately had a sign above them asking that people not feed them apples:
Check out their view/property (those are cows by the way):
There were plenty of old barns like this along our adventure today and I wish I caught more:
Anyway, beautiful day. We got home about 2 hours ago and I am completely wiped. No alarm for tomorrow morning thank god, but we do need to get ready for a wedding.
Ahhhh! The pictures didn't come through! :(
