Website

My website is finally ready!!! It's a baby registry but it's not your typical baby registry. It's for expectant parents to be able to register for their friends and family to give them money toward day care.

Amazing weekend on the Cape

My husband and I went to the Cape this weekend and we had an amazing time. We got to hang out with my parents, swim in ridiculously warm water, read and relax in the shade, and eat great food.

Don't my mom and I look cute in the same sun dress?

But wait, there's a reason I posted that. And it's because we both bought the same bathing suit years ago. We decided we needed to take a photograph.

Goodbye plants

When we went away this past weekend, we knew we'd come back to plants in rough shape. So we weren't surprised when we got home yesterday and saw that our once lush plants were now brown and shriveled. I started mourning our plants and then looked up and saw my eternally optimistic husband with a watering jug. A few hours later our plants were almost back to normal with just a few casualties.

Fast forward to today. It's almost 100 degrees out. I walk home from work and go immediately outside to water our 75% alive plants. Two men approach my balcony and tell me they are here to repair the balconies and that ours is next. "Can you please move all of yours plants inside?" they ask me. NO! I think about fighting them about fixing our balcony for a minute and catch myself. Falling metal chunks are never a good thing and let me tell you, our balcony is in ROUGH shape. I rip off all of the cucumber tendrils that have vined beautifully around the bars on our porch and bring the plants in one by one.

I tell my eternally optimistic husband, who is still at work, about the "situation" at home. His response? "The cucumbers are dead and now we have aphids in the apartment." Damn it!

Weekend

We spent the weekend visiting my sister-in-law and her amazing kids. I love seeing my girls and I can't tell you how much I love them! They are so smart and funny and perfect. Okay, maybe I'm a bit biased, but I swear that they are all of those things. Good food, good company, sitting out by the pool and sipping frozen alcoholic drinks, donating to the casino.. it doesn't get much better than that, except maybe that last detail.

We had a blast. I feel so blessed to have my SIL and my nieces in my life. All in all, a perfect weekend. If I can find the energy after the long drive back, I'll make a more detailed post. For now, enjoy the photos:

Vacation and my aunt's jewelry

We finally have a vacation planned for 2010! We booked tickets to Iceland and Holland in November (that seems so far away...). No hotels yet, but I'm thinking I can score a good deal if I wait a little bit.

On another note, I came home from work today and saw that my aunt had sent us a package. Inside were three beautiful pairs of earrings that she made. I have to say (and this isn't just because she is my aunt) that I LOVE her jewelry. She sells her creations on her website: www.sacredearthjewelry.com. You should check it out. It includes beauties like this:

It's always tasteful and I love how each piece is unique.
